The following is how I got rid of it.

I restarted my computer in the "SAFE MODE"

From there I was able to get back onto the internet and do a Google search on “antivirxp08” which was one of the messages that kept popping up.

And downloaded combofix (FREE)

I followed their instructions, ran the program and sure enough all was removed.

I did a search on my computer for Antivirxp08 and it came up nothing found. The whole procedure took me roughly 4 hours but if you follow this procedure it will take a lot less.

I then reconnected to the Internet, opened firefox and immediately weird things started

to happen. Up came the same SCREEN

and down went my computer again. Frustrated I went through the procedure again (ran the combofix program) and after about 20 minutes all was repaired.

No more antivirxp08. This time I clicked on start and the last two items in the start menu were registration and signup for ANTIVIRUS XP 2008. I did a right click and got the properties for them and found out that they were resident in a folder on my “C” drive named rhcckwjoe7d5. It had the two items in it, and when I tried to remove them it responded that they were in use. I went back to the start menu, right clicked them and deleted them. I was then able to remove the complete rhcckwjoe7d5 folder.

That solved my problem.
